Christa and I took the girls to get their ears pierced. Isabella really wanted to since all of her girl cousins have them done. She was excited. I told her to close her eyes. They did both at the same time...she cried...but a few seconds later she was ok...she loves them...I tried to get Sophia's done at the same time, but she was not having it. We have to wait until she gets older:)

Was searching for a GF's blog and came across yours. Started reading and came across your post about about having both girls ears pierced. I think you'er a smart mommy for having the girls done early. I had to laugh since I had the similiar experience taking both my girls ages 4 and 2 to have them done. Interestingly, the YDD wanted them done seeing mommy's "earwigs," but only the ODD walked out with earrings. She saw her older sister cry and decided to hold off doing it.
I share your frustration since I really wanted both girls with the same earrings. I was going to wait till I asked our ped. She encouraged me to have the YDD's ears pierced when mommy could care for them. She recommended taking her to a different place, i.e., Piercing Pagoda, with some suggestions she'd given me for moms having their dd's ears pierceed. They included some OTC meds to minimize any discomfort.
I read our ped's tip, waited a week and took our YDD without her older sister and didn't tell her where we were going shopping. Changing the venue and not seeing her sister cry did the trick. When I walked into Piercing Pagoda, I asked her if she wanted her ears pierced and she said, "...like mommies?" I knew I was on the right road to getting her ears pierced. The nice manager at Piercing Pagoda did one at a time so fast our dd never knew she was having them pierced. She did fine save for one tear and got the same earrings as her older sister. Both girls look adorable with them.
I'd say if you still thinking about it, then your mommy intuition is telling to take your YDD to have them done. If you'd like our ped's tips, write me an e-mail.
