Lake Tahoe....we finally made it....

Let me preface this blog post with saying that I have the most wonderful, generous, in-laws. They invited our family and my brother and sister in law to vacation with them for a week in Lake Tahoe. They have a time share at the Mariott Timber Lodge. They arranged for us to have our own condo and they will share with Danny and Ashlee. Poor little Sophia woke up sick as a dog yesterday (over 100 degree fever)...for some strange reason she seems to get sick right before we go on vacation. She is feeling better now.

We woke up this morning at 4am, got ready, drove to the airport, realized we forgot the car seats in the car, had the shuttle bus drive us back, and then back to the airport. The flight was pretty uneventful except that Sophia was pretty miserable and cried a lot. The funny thing is that in the past year this was our 13th flight (we went to New York several times and had to change planes)...every flight we have been placed in the last row...I keep laughing and saying that everyone wants us at the back of the bus. The other funny thing was that the flight was full and we all had different seats. The ticket agent said that she was very sure that whoever realized they were stuck sitting next to a 2 year old would gladly switch seats...which they did....at the back of the bus....

The plan was for us to get in around 11:30 and the rest of the group (from Austin) get in around 2:30....long story short, their Austin flight got cancelled so they won't be here until around 10pm...

We picked up our rental car...which is another funny story...I went to orbitz and the cheapest compact car I could find was about 500 for the week...I decided to bid on priceline 25.00 a day (half the price)...we were accepted...they then asked if for 3 dollars extra if we wanted a FULL size car...which we said yes...then when we arrived we were upgraded to an SUV...similar to ours...score....got to love priceline!

We arrived at the resort...It is awesome. It is owned by Mariott. They have 2 right next to each other. We are literally in the center of town, can walk anywhere, and there are a million cool things to do. Next door is a brewery...how cool is that...The resort has a ton of activities for all ages. The girls went to the lobby for face painting and cookies. Sophia was too scared. Right now we are just relaxing, waiting for everyone to arrive and trying to get used to the 2 hour time change. I am looking forward to the fire pit, painting pottery, hiking, and going up the gondola that is right next to our hotel. Dave took a picture of the salt and pepper shaker because he thought it was pretty funny.

the picture of the resort is one I found on google images...I guess it was taken in the winter, but we saw lots of snow on the mountains driving up!
