sushi and shoes

Since today was not the best of days I treated myself to sushi...the girls got chicken terraki...Lately Sophia has had a shoe fetish...she wants them on all the time. Today she brought 1 shoe to me and wanted me to put it on her...she looked pretty funny in nothing but a diaper and 1 shoe...It reminded me of some of the gangsters who roll one of their pant legs up to let others know they are in a gang...which also makes me think of my conversation I had with some of my students yesterday about gangs...we started talking about people that ta too tear drops on their face. They said filled in means you killed someone, if you have a tear that is not filled in it means you went to jail...my question to them was..."aren't people embarrassed that they went to jail??? do you really want to advertise that?' crazy...anyway, back to the shoes...Sophia ended up in my bed with her pjs and 2 right foot (non-matching shoes)..she is ham!

hard day

Today was pretty hard...the girls went nuts when I got them ready for school. I was nervous because I knew my principal was coming in for my end of year observation during my AP Macroeconomics class...The students have been learning fiscal policy, money creation, money supply, loanable funds, money market...and today I was putting it all together and teaching Monetary Policy...the thing is that all of the previous topics were pretty difficult that we have spent weeks working on problems, talking, etc. If you were to come in one day it would sound like a foreign language. So my principal came in, and I felt the lesson went pretty well...I even taught quantitative easing 1 and 2...He left after the lecture when the kids were working on free response questions, applying what we learned...they did awesome...completely understood the material. The problem is that my principal didn't see the last part...It seemed complicated so in my evaluation he said that the kids didn't seem to get it...but that was far from the truth...anyway, it is just frustrating when you work so hard...I have a post observation meeting Monday, so I guess I will talk to him about it.

I picked the girls up from school and they were so cute. Isabella made a princess hat and wand..they were finishing up the fairy tale unit. I wanted to take a picture at home with her wearing it but she was tired and laid on the stairs in protest...so I took a picture of them without her.

Anyway, I am pretty excited that tomorrow is April Fool's Day which means Dave and I's 5 year wedding anniversary!!!!!

I took picture of the girls sleeping last night....they are too cute!

Hump Day

I am soooo glad tomorrow is Thursday...This has been a VERY interesting week....I have been nervous all week because my principal is supposed to observe me tomorrow 6th period- AP Macroeconomics...I have just finished money creation and will start monetary policy...I know I keep going on and on, but I have to basically teach everything to myself..and just when I finally think I get it, someone ask me a question and I get confused...I went over my power point with Dave...he thought it was good, but started asking me questions...I got confused...then he started talking about quantitative easing one and two...I was like ...WHAT??? so I did lots of research and now understand it...economics is so complicated...BUT I LOVE IT!!!! My dream job would be teaching nothing but AP Macroeconomics....So I tweaked my lesson, showed it to Christa, and she thought it was really good...we shall see...I just hope he comes 6th because I want him to appreciate how hard I am working. If he comes my other period, he will still see good things, but not nearly as interesting.

Anyway, the girls have been super cute lately. I will say "give each other a kiss"...and they will...they hug, tease each other...really are enjoying being sisters. Friday is Dave and I's 5th year wedding anniversary. We take turns planning anniversaries and valentines day, so this year it is my turn. Christa and Brad are keeping the girls Friday night for us. I originally planned on surprising him with a nice hotel room downtown, dinner, dancing...but quickly changed that plan when I found out there was not one single 4 (or even 3) star hotel available...the March Madness Final Four will be in Houston...so we changed the date to Friday night (which will work out better)...Saturday our neighbors down the street that I have talked to a few times invited us over at 3 to hang out with them and another couple on the a street over...We all have little ones and they (just like us) want to get to know our neighbors!!! I am super excited Elizabeth knocked on my door and invited us. It is something I totally would do...I just have been so overwhelmed with things.

Oh...I almost forgot....last night I bought the girls the Disney movie "Tangled"...Dave and I took them to see it at the theatre and they both loved it...it finally came out on DVD...I kept asking Isabella to hold the case so I could take a picture for the blog...she refused...so I gave it to Sophia to hold...which made Isabella mad....too funny!!!!

Working hard

Today was great...but hard...I worked very hard...was up at 4:30, met Christa at gym at 5..worked out until 6...got to work around 6:30ish...worked on lessons until 7:15...had bus duty until 7:40....taught all day long...had bus duty right after school until 3:15, ran to tutoring until 4:30...picked up girls around 5:15...came home and cooked dinner...and am so blessed to hang out with the girls...we played with them upstairs...Isabella loves playing the matching game....we don't play it as memory quite yet...we have her find the matches...poor Sophia was so cranky she went to bed at 7pm...but then woke up at 7:45 because she heard us upstairs...I am a bad mom (made them m&ms and popcorn)...I know mom, but they both ate a ton of fruits and veggies today...

ohhh..dinner was good

Another great, easy dinner...Dream dinner...chicken marsala with mushrooms and mash potatoes...I pan seared chicken breast for 3 minutes on each side and then added the mushroom sauce and simmered for about 8 minutes...all the while the mash potatoes were heating in a pot for 10 minutes...I added a bag of mixed veggies...sooo good and sooo easy....life is great!

Art Festival

Today was a great day... Dave and I took the girls to the Houston Art Festival at Memorial Park...it was so much fun...the girls had a blast. Dave and I can't wait until we have enough money to buy a piece when we go...not that I am complaining because we are SOOOOO blessed!!!! Christa and Brad called me from the German Festival in Humble...I told them about that festival and am glad they had a good time. This should be a busy week..I have duty all week and then on Friday it is Dave and I's 5th year wedding anniversary.....
